The Highveld Steel and Vanadium corporation steelworks is situated in Witbank with the dominant office in Johannesburg. Highveld was established in 1960. Their product range is diverse and varies from steel, alloys and vanadium.

Simulation studies were performed and simulation models constructed to determine the optimal usage of the Melting Funaces.

The new 1.25-million-tons per year hot strip and cold rolled steel mini-mill at Saldanha is equipped with state of the art electrical, mechanical and automation technologies, which makes it among the most modern in the world. Installation was carried out by a joint venture between Siements, LTA Autocon and Group 5.

The SCAW Metals primary site and head office is located in Germiston, Gauteng Province. The company was established in 1937 and manufactures castings for the mining, general engineering, automotive, transportation and power generation industries, rolled steel products, agricultural implements and has extensive fabrication and machining facilities. The total crude steel production capacity of SCAW Metals is about 500 000 tons per year.
